Service Description
Children and Young People's mental health workers play a crucial role in shaping the emotional and psychological well-being of the children and young people they support. Practitioners often support children and young people facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges. This work can be emotionally demanding and can lead to stress, overwhelm, vicarious trauma and burnout, and it can be easy for professionals to overlook their own well-being. Maintaining good self-care and well-being is set out in the HCPC Standards of Proficency for Arts Therapists: 3. look after their health and wellbeing, seeking appropriate support where necessary 3.1 identify anxiety and stress in themselves and recognise the potential impact on their practice 3.2 understand the importance of their own mental and physical health and wellbeing strategies in maintaining fitness to practise 3.3 understand how to take appropriate action if their health may affect their ability to practise safely and effectively, including seeking help and support when necessary 3.4 develop and adopt clear strategies for physical and mental self-care and self-awareness, to maintain a high standard of professional effectiveness and a safe working environment HCPC SOP 2023 Our creative self-care workshop will enable practitioners identify the early warning signs of overload, helping to restore regulation through specially designed guided exercises: Stop, Sense and Centre and Break, Breathe and Balance will: 1. Support practitioners to better understand how stress affects brain and body 2. Support practitioners to identify and circumvent early warning signs of overload 3.
